Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
The Paisley Artscape Society is a registered non-profit organization created with the intent of supporting and promoting public art and art education in Paisley and surrounding area. With a volunteer board in place, this group collaborates with various local organizations in an attempt to support the growth of a creative, vibrant and thriving community.
Our History
In 2018, after almost a decade of planning and public input, Paisley’s Spruce The Bruce Committee enthusiastically embraced Paisley’s new brand as the “Artistic River Village”. This endorsement set a cascade of events in motion culminating in 2 weeks of “Art In Action” bridging Labour Day weekend. Through the collaboration of Bruce County’s Spruce The Bruce program, the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie and a collection of community champions, Paisley’s artistic landscape changed dramatically. With visiting artists Libre HEM and Martin Ferreyra, local artists Lori Pearson, Susan Seitz, Ann Fauchon and Frank Wells accompanied by a wide range of community volunteers, five murals and 2 street pianos came to life. An additional community art project resulted in the creation of “The Dot” mural as a testament to Paisley’s engagement in the 2 week event.
Paisley’s “Art In Action” event provided the impetus for the creation of the Paisley Artscape Society (PAS) in the spring of 2019. A small group of volunteers organized 2 public meetings to gauge the community’s desire to move forward with additional public art installations and events. With an inaugural board in place, PAS began reviewing input gathered from 2 public meetings and developed a vision for a registered non-profit organization to support public art and art education in Paisley and surrounding area.
